Job Summary:

The Pantry Cook is responsible for preparing a variety of cooked dishes while maintaining high standards of service for customers and colleagues. Proficiency in managing multiple cooking stations, such as frying, griddling, egg preparation, and pantry duties, is required. Effective communication with the manager and servers regarding ticket times, potential delays, and other kitchen-related issues is essential. The Pantry Cook must also uphold cleanliness, follow food safety regulations, and contribute to overall kitchen efficiency. This is a non-exempt position reporting to management.

Essential Functions:

• Follow precise recipes and instructions to prep, season, cook, taste, slice, and plate dishes including soups, meats, vegetables, and desserts
• Maintain consistency and quality through recipe evaluation, adherence to standardized menus, and accurate estimation of food needs
• Keep detailed production records and obtain necessary kitchen supplies and tools
• Follow HACCP food safety and sanitation standards to maintain a clean and hygienic workspace
• Operate kitchen equipment such as slicers, mixers, grills, fryers, and ovens
• Properly measure, combine, clean, peel, slice, and shred ingredients during food preparation
• Monitor stock levels, organize items by expiration dates, and rotate inventory regularly to maintain freshness and quality
• Lift and move items up to 40 pounds and perform tasks requiring bending, twisting, and standing for long periods
• Follow hygiene and safety practices, including hand immersion in water or cleaning solutions as needed

Key Prerequisites and Competencies:

• Previous food preparation experience and knowledge of HACCP regulations
• Minimum of one year of related cooking experience, preferably in a fast-paced, casual dining environment
• Familiarity with various cooking methods such as soup preparation, sautéing, broiling, frying, and pantry management
• Ability to understand and implement instructions, rules, and menu selections while maintaining effective communication with team members and patrons
