Job Summary:

The Deli Cook is responsible for preparing a wide range of meals while providing high-quality service to both customers and team members. Proficiency in multiple cooking stations, including frying, griddling, pantry tasks, and egg preparation, is required. The Deli Cook must communicate order timings, potential delays, and kitchen-related matters effectively with managers and servers. Additionally, the role involves maintaining cleanliness, following food safety guidelines, and enhancing kitchen operations. This is a non-exempt position reporting to management.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Prepare a variety of dishes including soups, meats, vegetables, and desserts according to specific recipes, seasoning, cooking, sampling, slicing, and plating instructions
• Maintain consistency and high-quality standards by sampling dishes, adhering to standardized menus, and accurately forecasting food quantities
• Keep detailed production logs and procure necessary culinary supplies and equipment
• Follow strict food safety and sanitation procedures in accordance with HACCP standards to maintain a hygienic workspace
• Operate kitchen appliances and tools such as slicers, food processors, griddles, deep fryers, and ovens
• Measure, mix, clean, peel, chop, and shred ingredients according to proper food handling protocols
• Monitor inventory levels, categorize items by expiration dates, and rotate stock to maintain freshness and quality
• Work collaboratively with team members to ensure smooth kitchen operations and efficient service
• Lift and transport items weighing up to 40 pounds, and perform tasks requiring bending, twisting, and prolonged standing
• Engage positively with coworkers and customers to foster an inclusive and professional work environment
• Regularly maintain personal hygiene and follow safety protocols, including proper handwashing and use of cleaning agents

Necessary Credentials and Competencies:

• Experience in food preparation and a strong knowledge of HACCP standards are essential
• Minimum of one year of relevant culinary experience, preferably in a high-volume casual dining setting
• Proficiency in a wide range of cooking techniques including soup preparation, sautéing, broiling, frying, and pantry management
• Ability to understand, execute, and communicate instructions, protocols, and menu selections effectively
