Job Summary:

The Chef is responsible for preparing a wide range of cooked dishes while maintaining exceptional service quality for customers and supporting team members. Proficiency in various cooking stations such as frying, griddling, pantry, and egg preparation is essential. Effective communication with managers and servers regarding ticket times, potential delays, and kitchen-related matters is critical. The Chef is also responsible for upholding cleanliness, following food safety regulations, and contributing to efficient kitchen operations. This is a non-exempt role reporting to management.

Essential Functions:

  • Prepare soups, meats, vegetables, and desserts by following recipes and product guidelines for seasoning, cooking, sampling, slicing, and plating
  • Ensure consistency and quality by sampling food, adhering to standardized menus, and accurately forecasting ingredient quantities
  • Maintain production records and acquire necessary culinary supplies and tools
  • Follow strict food safety and sanitation measures in compliance with HACCP standards, maintaining a clean and organized workspace
  • Operate kitchen equipment including slicers, mixers, grills, fryers, and ovens efficiently
  • Accurately measure, blend, clean, peel, cut, and shred ingredients as part of food preparation
  • Monitor inventory, organize items by expiration dates, and rotate food stock to ensure freshness and quality

Requirements & Work Environment:

  • Proven experience in food handling and strong understanding of HACCP regulations
  • At least one year of relevant cooking experience, preferably in a high-volume casual dining environment
  • Proficient in culinary techniques including soups, sautéing, broiling, frying, and pantry management
  • Ability to understand, implement, and follow instructions, standards, and menu options with effective communication with patrons and colleagues
  • Capable of lifting up to 40 pounds and performing tasks requiring bending, twisting, and standing for extended periods
  • Regular exposure to heat, sharp knives, kitchen tools, and hot serving dishes
  • Frequent hand washing and use of cleaning solutions to maintain hygiene and comply with safety protocols
