Job Summary:

The Grill Cook is responsible for preparing a variety of cooked dishes while ensuring high standards of service for customers and team members. This position requires proficiency in multiple cooking stations including frying, grilling, pantry duties, and egg preparation. Effective communication with managers and servers regarding order timing, potential delays, and other kitchen concerns is essential. The role also includes maintaining cleanliness, following food safety regulations, and contributing to overall kitchen efficiency. This is a non-exempt position under managerial oversight.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Prepare, season, cook, sample, slice, and present a variety of dishes such as soups, meats, vegetables, and desserts following specified recipes and cooking methods
• Maintain consistency and quality by tasting food, adhering to menu standards, and accurately estimating food quantities
• Keep detailed production records and request essential kitchen materials and tools as needed
• Ensure compliance with HACCP food safety and sanitation guidelines, maintaining a clean and hygienic workspace
• Use kitchen equipment including slicers, mixers, grills, fryers, and ovens
• Follow proper techniques for measuring, blending, cleaning, trimming, slicing, and shredding ingredients
• Monitor inventory levels, organize items by expiration date, and rotate stock to maintain freshness and quality
• Collaborate effectively with team members to ensure smooth kitchen operations
• Lift and move items up to 40 pounds, and perform tasks requiring bending, twisting, and prolonged standing
• Follow hygiene and safety procedures, including frequent handwashing and use of cleaning agents

Necessary Qualifications and Competencies:

• Hands-on experience in food handling and knowledge of HACCP regulations
• Minimum of one year of relevant culinary experience, preferably in a fast-paced, casual dining environment
• Proficiency in a variety of cooking techniques including soups, sautéing, broiling, frying, and pantry management
• Ability to understand, follow, and communicate instructions, policies, and menu options effectively
