Director of Learning & Development

Job Summary:

Subway® is seeking a strategic and passionate Director of Learning and Development to lead the evolution of our global training initiatives. This high-impact role will shape and drive comprehensive learning programs that support the onboarding, development, and upskilling of Franchisees, Field Teams, and Restaurant Operators. Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute a strategic, company-wide learning and development framework
• Design and implement onboarding, technical training, and continuous learning programs for Franchisees, Field Teams, and Operations Managers
• Partner with cross-functional leaders (Operations, HR, Technology, etc.) to identify business needs and develop innovative, scalable training solutions
• Build learning paths, role-specific resources, and toolkits that elevate operational efficiency and team performance
• Oversee the development and delivery of e-learning modules, virtual sessions, workshops, and blended learning approaches
• Lead and mentor a team of L&D professionals while managing external vendors, platforms, and consultants
• Own performance metrics and ROI tracking to ensure training effectiveness and business impact
• Maintain and optimize the company’s Learning Management System (LMS) and explore emerging technologies for improved knowledge delivery
• Promote a culture of learning, innovation, and continuous improvement at all organizational levels
• Support large-scale transformations and change management initiatives with effective training strategies
• Travel up to 25% to support field execution and training deployment

Qualifications and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources, Education, or a related field (Master’s preferred)
• 8+ years of progressive experience in Learning and Development, including at least 3 years in a senior or leadership capacity
• Demonstrated success in building and executing learning strategies within fast-paced or franchised environments
• Deep understanding of instructional design, adult learning theory, and training delivery methods
• Strong experience in restaurant, food service, or hospitality industries is preferred
• Proven ability to lead high-performing teams and manage vendor relationships and learning platforms
• Excellent project management, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills
• Proficiency in LMS software, e-learning development tools, and performance analytics
• Strategic thinker with a results-driven mindset and strong change leadership capabilities
