Job Summary:
The Catering Cook is responsible for preparing a wide variety of cooked dishes while delivering excellent service to guests and supporting team members. Proficiency in various cooking stations such as grilling, frying, cold dish preparation, and egg cooking is required. Clear communication with managers and servers regarding order timelines, potential delays, and kitchen matters is essential. Maintaining cleanliness, following food safety standards, and contributing to the overall efficiency of kitchen operations are key responsibilities in this non-exempt role.
Essential Functions:
- Prepare, season, cook, taste, slice, and present a variety of foods including soups, meats, vegetables, and desserts according to recipes and guidelines
- Maintain consistency and quality through food sampling, adherence to standardized menus, and precise estimation of ingredients
- Keep detailed records of production operations and procure necessary supplies and kitchen tools
- Follow strict food safety and sanitation procedures in compliance with HACCP standards, maintaining a clean and organized workspace
- Use kitchen equipment including slicers, mixers, grills, fryers, and ovens effectively
- Accurately measure, mix, clean, peel, chop, and prepare ingredients during cooking
- Monitor stock levels, organize items by expiration dates, and rotate inventory to ensure freshness and quality, while monitoring product temperatures
Requirements & Work Environment:
- Experience in food preparation and knowledge of HACCP standards
- At least one year of relevant cooking experience, preferably in a high-volume casual dining environment
- Proficient in culinary techniques including soups, sautéing, broiling, frying, and pantry management
- Ability to understand, implement, and follow instructions, procedures, and menu standards, with strong communication skills
- Capable of lifting and transporting up to 40 pounds, and performing tasks requiring bending, twisting, and standing for extended periods
- Regular exposure to heat, sharp tools, kitchen equipment, and hot serving dishes
- Frequent hand washing and use of cleaning solutions to maintain hygiene and comply with safety standards
