Job Summary:

The Culinary Artist is responsible for preparing a wide range of cooked dishes while providing excellent service to customers and supporting team members. Proficiency across multiple cooking stations, including the Fry, Flat Top Griddle, Pantry, and Egg Station, is required. Effective communication with managers and servers regarding ticket times, potential delays, and kitchen matters is critical. The Culinary Artist must maintain cleanliness, follow food safety regulations, and contribute to the efficiency of kitchen operations. This is a non-exempt position reporting to management.

Essential Functions:

  • Prepare soups, meats, vegetables, and desserts by following recipes and product guidelines for seasoning, cooking, sampling, cutting, and plating
  • Maintain consistency and quality through sampling, adhering to standardized menus, and accurately estimating food requirements
  • Maintain production records and procure necessary culinary supplies and tools
  • Follow strict food safety and sanitation guidelines in accordance with HACCP standards, ensuring a clean and organized workspace
  • Operate kitchen equipment such as slicers, blenders, griddles, deep fryers, and ovens efficiently
  • Accurately measure, mix, clean, peel, chop, and shred ingredients for food preparation
  • Monitor stock levels, organize items by expiration dates, and rotate inventory to ensure freshness and quality

Entry-Level Criteria:

  • Experience in food preparation and knowledge of HACCP principles are essential
  • Minimum of one year of relevant cooking experience, preferably in a casual dining environment
  • Proficient in cooking techniques including soup preparation, sautéing, broiling, frying, and pantry management
  • Ability to understand, interpret, and follow instructions, protocols, and menu guidelines while communicating effectively with guests and peers
  • Physically able to lift up to 40 pounds and perform tasks involving bending, twisting, and standing for extended periods
  • Frequent exposure to heat, sharp knives, kitchen tools, and hot serving plates
  • Maintain hygiene and safety through regular hand washing and use of cleaning solutions
