Job Summary:
The Food Preparation Specialist is responsible for preparing a wide range of cooked meals while delivering high-quality service to customers and team members. Proficiency in multiple cooking stations, such as Fry, Flat Top Griddle, Pantry, and Egg Station, is essential. Effective communication with managers and servers regarding ticket times, potential delays, and kitchen-related matters is critical. Maintaining hygiene standards, following food safety regulations, and supporting kitchen efficiency are integral to this non-exempt role reporting to management.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Prepare, flavor, cook, taste, cut, and present a variety of dishes including soups, meats, vegetables, and desserts following recipes and product guidelines
- Maintain consistency and high standards by sampling dishes, following standardized menus, and accurately forecasting required food quantities
- Record production operations and procure necessary supplies and kitchen equipment
- Ensure compliance with HACCP food safety and sanitation standards, maintaining a clean and organized workspace
- Operate kitchen equipment and tools including slicers, mixers, grills, fryers, and ovens
- Measure, combine, clean, peel, slice, and shred ingredients accurately during meal preparation
- Monitor inventory levels, organize items by expiration date, and rotate stock to preserve freshness and quality
- Collaborate with team members to maintain efficient kitchen operations
- Lift and transport items up to 40 pounds and perform tasks requiring bending, twisting, and standing for extended periods
- Follow proper hygiene and safety practices, including frequent handwashing and use of cleaning agents
Necessary Qualifications and Competencies:
- Experience in food preparation and knowledge of HACCP standards
- Minimum of one year of relevant cooking experience, preferably in a casual dining environment with high customer volume
- Proficiency in a variety of cooking methods, including soups, sautéing, broiling, frying, and pantry management
- Ability to understand, follow, and communicate instructions, policies, and menu selections effectively
