Culinary Assistant

Role and Responsibilities:

As a Culinary Assistant, you will interact with customers, prepare products, and support the daily operations of the store. You will maintain accuracy and timeliness in order processing while upholding high standards of safety and cleanliness.

• Use store equipment safely and with effectiveness.
• Arrange items brought in from delivery areas into designated storage sections, work areas, and walk-in coolers.
• Prepare food products in line with the guidelines provided by the company.
• Precisely process orders taken through phone calls and in-person interactions.
• Perform a stock check and complete the associated paperwork.
• Carry out daily cleaning routines for equipment and the workspace.
• Conform to the orientation and on-the-job training protocols outlined.
• Understand and offer clear written recommendations.
• Implement clear communication practices with customers and team members to effectively manage the processing of orders.
• Carry out fundamental math duties, including accurately making monetary adjustments.
• Use electronic means such as a computer or touch screen to ensure the accurate input of orders.
• Observe safety protocols when dealing with hot surfaces, sharp utensils, or moving equipment.
• Aid in fostering a clean and organized work environment.

Required Skills and Experience:

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Skill in articulating messages clearly and maintaining effective communication with both clients and coworkers.
• Basic mathematical skills and the proficiency to accurately give correct change.
• Precise coordination of motor skills integral to performing tasks accurately and efficiently.
• Ability to synchronize hand dexterity with visual accuracy in food handling and tool utilization.
• Effectiveness in operating individually or collaboratively under stress and meeting quality control criteria.

Physical Requirements:

• Tasks primarily require standing with short walks for brief periods.
• Carry and deliver bulk product orders weighing up to 50 pounds using a hand truck.
• Carry items such as oversized cans, pizza sauce (up to 30 pounds), and trays of pizza dough (about 12 pounds each).
• Transport trays on dollies, pushing and pulling with a force limit of 7.5 lbs.
• Climb stairs or ladders occasionally for maintenance duties.
• Frequently stoop, bend, crouch, squat, and reach to complete tasks.
• Regularly handle food and tools like pizza peels, cutters, and containers, requiring continuous hand use.

Work Conditions:

• Exposure to fluctuating temperatures ranging from 36°F in coolers to above 90°F in certain areas.
• Infrequent outdoor work such as waste disposal.
• Contact with food odors, cornmeal dust particles, hot surfaces, sharp edges, and moving mechanical components.
• Work in confined spaces, including walk-in cooling closets.
