Developing a proficient team that provides exceptional internal and external services, boosts restaurant revenue and profitability, and ensures conformity with regulations, policies, and procedures is essential for the Restaurant Shift Manager.

Responsibilities of Restaurant Shift Manager:

  • Staffing levels are monitored to guarantee adequate talent and growth opportunities, while also ensuring that training systems for various workstations are effectively enforced by both management and staff.
  • The key objective of the external service is to optimize the daily operations of the restaurant, ensuring that the team is well-trained and committed to delivering exceptional service and high-quality food consistent with JIB guidelines. By regularly evaluating practices and making necessary adjustments, the aim is to continuously enhance the overall guest experience, while also maintaining a visible presence and engaging with guests to address any concerns or issues promptly and professionally. Proper understanding and operation of all systems by the management team and crew are essential to ensure smooth operations and adherence to standards. The service also prioritizes upholding the restaurant's image by focusing on cleanliness, maintenance, and providing exemplary service, with an emphasis on serving as a role model for exceptional guest service.
  • Implementing Action Plans Based on Data Analysis: After analyzing the data gathered from various sources, the restaurant develops and executes action plans to address identified trends and areas for enhancement. By utilizing this analytical approach, the restaurant ensures that its strategies for improvement are well-informed and targeted, leading to more effective outcomes.
  • Upholding Ethical Standards: Demonstrates a zeal for the business and a deep-rooted pride in Jack in the Box; capable of conducting operations with professionalism and a steadfast commitment to integrity, sincerity, and reliance that nurtures the Jack in the Box ethos and morals, while adopting the Service Profit Chain and My Promise To You. Maintains elevated ethical values, treats staff and customers with esteem, and engages in active listening and precise, timely communication with the management team and staff.
  • Training/Coaching/Development: Serves as a strong role model who motivates and inspires employees; effectively trains, coaches, and provides time for employees to learn; identifies employees' potential and fosters development for promotion to the next level; and demonstrates patience and commitment toward development of employees. Values effective job performance and ensures restaurant team receives recognition and expression of gratitude. Understands the importance of, and provides employees with quality and timely performance feedback and reviews.

Qualification of Restaurant Shift Manager:

  • The minimum qualification is a high school diploma, G.E.D., or an equivalent certification.
  • Candidates with an Associate's or Bachelor's degree are encouraged to apply.
  • Candidates must have at least 1 year of experience as an Associate Manager or 2 years as a First Assistant Manager to be considered for internal promotion, along with complete workstation certification.
  • External Recruit: Minimum of 3 years experience managing a service concept with full P&L responsibility preferred.
  • Being at least 18 years of age is a prerequisite
  • It is mandatory to finish the training classes for Restaurant Managers
  • Possession of a ServSafe certification is a requirement.
  • Requires ability to speak, read, and write effectively in English; excellent interpersonal skills; ability to perform and understand basic math concepts (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division); proven analytical skills; and good organization and planning skills.
  • Shows motivation by taking the lead and embracing accountability without hesitation.
  • Skilled expertise in utilizing personal computers and relevant applications.
  • Having a valid driver's license, insurance coverage, and being able to utilize a personal vehicle for commuting to different restaurant or business venues is a requirement.
  • Displays integrity and ethical conduct in actions.

Physical Requirements of Restaurant Shift Manager:

  • Ability to stand and walk approximately 85%-95% of shift
  • Demonstrating the capacity to lift and bear loads between 10 to 65 pounds; adept at moving around the restaurant with ease and agility
  • Skill in handling restaurant appliances and driving a vehicle.
  • Skill in maneuvering a keyboard on a computer.
