Job Summary:

The Cook is responsible for preparing a variety of cooked dishes while providing top-notch service to customers and supporting team members. Proficiency in various cooking areas such as frying, griddling, pantry work, and egg preparation is essential. Effective communication regarding ticket times, potential delays, and kitchen-related matters with managers and servers is critical. The Cook is also expected to uphold cleanliness, follow food safety regulations, and contribute to efficient kitchen operations. This is a non-exempt position reporting to management.

Essential Functions:

• Prepare soups, meats, vegetables, and desserts by following recipes and product guidelines for seasoning, cooking, sampling, cutting, and plating
• Ensure consistency and quality by sampling food, adhering to standardized menus, and accurately forecasting ingredient quantities
• Maintain production records and obtain necessary culinary supplies and tools
• Follow strict food safety and sanitation procedures in compliance with HACCP standards to maintain a clean and organized workspace
• Operate kitchen equipment including choppers, processors, grills, deep fryers, and ovens efficiently
• Accurately select, blend, clean, peel, slice, and shred ingredients for meal preparation
• Monitor inventory, organize items by expiration dates, and rotate stock to preserve quality and freshness

Requirements & Work Environment:

• Proven experience in food preparation and strong understanding of HACCP regulations
• At least 12 months of relevant cooking experience, preferably in a busy casual dining environment
• Proficient in culinary techniques including soups, sautéing, broiling, frying, and pantry management
• Ability to follow instructions, standards, and menu options with clear communication to patrons and coworkers
• Capable of lifting up to 40 pounds and performing tasks requiring bending, twisting, and standing for extended periods
• Regular exposure to heat, sharp knives, kitchen tools, and hot serving dishes
• Frequent hand washing and use of cleaning solutions to maintain hygiene and safety compliance
